Beautiful Dress on Display
NEWS FLASH - for a very limited time we have on display the dress worn in 1927 at Briagolong by Mary Elizabeth Noy, when she married Eric Lee.
This stunning, beaded dress, with veil, headpiece, train, horse-shoe and other accessories has not been on display before, and caused a sensation for the Shakespeare Festival Village Fair.
It was accompanied by this hand-coloured original photograph on loan, showing the dress worn by the bride. Like other local brides, she had it carefully packed for a photograph to be taken in Melbourne on her honeymoon, and she is wearing a different veil and headpiece.
The couple made their home near Stratford, where Eric became a long-serving Avon Shire councillor, and their children, especially long-term secretary Brendan Lee, were deeply involved with Stratford and District Historical Society.
