Ready for the Village Fair
The Stratford Historical Society has a lot to offer at this year’s Stratford Village Fair on Sunday May 2nd.
At the Museum grounds in Hobson St, its famous Avonshire Teas will be served from 10am until 3pm, on the spreading lawns beneath the heritage- listed trees.
Inside the old Church building there will be a special exhibition of Teapots and Tea Cosies. Also, the indexes of Kelly’s Grocers - which was a Stratford store in the late 1800s - will be released, and will be joining the exhibition of school photographs and records that are out to celebrate Stratford Primary School’s approaching 150th anniversary.
Sunday will also see the first release of the Stratford Town Walk, which takes further work of local historian, the late Laurie Manning. The Walk is a work in progress and as additional information is uncovered, will evolve.
It includes photos and stories of historic buildings and sites, as well as interesting information about Stratford’s residents and culture in days gone by.
Copies of the Stratford Town Walk will be available during the Fair, pending a more general release once completed.
